Knight's Cross

The Ehrenpokal, instituted by GORING on 2/27/1940, was intended for flying personnel only. It is 20.cm high and of 835 silver. The obverse carries two fighting eagles in high relief while its reverse displays an Iron Cross 1st Class. A wide pattern of oak leaves and acorns adorns the stem of the Ehrenpokal. Directly below this oak leaf pattern was engraved the recipients name, rank and date of award. The legend "Fur besondere Leistung im Luftkrieg" (For Special Achievement in the Air War) appeared in raised letters on the base of the goblet. By further order of Generaloberst Loerzer, the Ehrenpokal was no longer to be awarded to flying personnel after December 10, 1944. In it place the recipient was to receive the Roll of Honor of the Luftwaffe.
